Caren Franzini enlightens economic development professionals from 8 states
If you were fortunate to join EDANJ and the Northeastern Economic Developers Association (NEDA) on March 6, 2014 at Salt Creek Grille in Princeton, NJ, then you heard directly from Caren Franzini of Franzini Consulting LLC (and former CEO of New Jersey's state Economic Development Authority) about innovative economic development programs and solutions used in CT, DE, MA, ME, NJ, NY, PA, and VT. Ms. Franzini stressed that the programs shared the following common themes: developing creative financing and program solutions to encourage development based on the needs of the state's customers. Economic development organizations need to find out what the customer needs and give it to them in a transparent and open process. The benefit of multi-state networking like the event at Salt Creek lets economic developers obey the "11th commandment": learn from your peers and competitors and adjust what works for them to fit your community's needs.
