EDANJ Board Members Support CREWNJ Development Conference!
EDANJ President Mike Sylvester, Executive Vice President at Betts Environmental, and Board Member Sharon McSwieney, Senior Project Manager at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc., participated on an expert panel entitled “Getting Deals Done in the New Environmental Age” for Commercial and Real Estate Women of New Jersey (CREWNJ) on March 13, 2014 at the Parsippany Hilton. The panel was coordinated and moderated by CREWNJ Board Member, Susan Karp, Esq., Member, Cole Schotz Forman and Meisel. Also on the panel was Monica Majewska, Director of Development at Advance Realty. The panel discussed how the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) Program is positively impacting real estate transactions and development deals in New Jersey. Ms. McSwieney, LSRP at Langan, provided her opinions as an LSRP on how the NJDEP program is positively impacting real estate transactions and development deals now that LSRPs can provide more timely review and approval of environmental issues associated with impacted properties. Mr. Sylvester provided his opinions as a non-LSRP environmental consultant on the impacts of the LSRP program and when it might be more prudent for a purchaser undergoing due diligence to use a non LSRP. Ms. Majewska commented on her experience with improved timing of transactions with the assistance of LSRPs providing review and approval for impacted properties.
